This book was great- it prooves why Janeway is the best Captain ever!!! It pretty much has Janeway on an alien ship where she has to start over as a deckhand and work her way up to command. Voyager was "destroyed" at the beginning of the book, and Kathryn was badly injured. Her escape pod was found by a ship of prewarp aliens. It is REALLY interesting to see how close she gets to this crew and how creative she is.......I highly recommend this book!  |

I read this book years ago, when it first came out. I should go back and re-read it, because I remember absolutely nothing about it, except the very beginning, when you are walked into the bar. LOL.

No, I remember liking the book. But in all fairness, it did come out 9 years ago!!! And I have read atleast two dozen Voyager books.....so they have a tendency to run together.

I've been trying to read Fireship for three months now.... I'm still when she's in the bar....I think I'll have to start over cause I remember getting interrupted alot and going back to the book I'd be like ...."d**n...she's still in the bar...."

Haha, yeah; it's kinda hard to get "outta the bar"..........when I read that part I was like,"what the...??" Once you get to her story, it gets MUCH better.

That would be hard. There were some parts that crushed me though. The escape pod part. Oh my. Yeah this was I must say one of the top Voyager books!

Also, it explains why she had to cut her hair short in season 4; half of it caught on fire. Yes, that beginning was painful, and the part with the alien when they are crying together was very sad. It's not usual for Janeway to cry, but I imagine she was exhausted and had been through sooooo much at that point. And the alien's story was so sad; imagine having to destroy your own children- horrible.

Actually Janeway cuts her hair short in Season four because during a sleep over with her daughters they all decide to give mommy a makeover.......but don't tell Mikayla and Inara....they don't know that yet....LOL.
