Whew, finally home after one very long exciting journey. Wow...after reading JF's convention report, I really dont' have much to add to it. JF's little boy is adorable...he mustered though with flying colors even though the poor thing was sick. JF's smile reaches to the top of her hair line. Her face literally glows when she smiles. Belanna is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life.
I still have no words on what it was like to meet Kate. I've been watching her on television for many, many years now and so it's very surreal to have actually seen her in person. I was astounded, flabbergasted, in total awe, speechless, near tears a few times and almost to the point that I couldn't breathe.
She is even more beautiful in person that on tv or in pictures. She is gracious and charming and a total professional. I admired her before, now I just totally love her. She was extremely rushed on Saturday but you never could have told by her behavior, facial expressions or tone of voice. She truly is an outstanding person.
If I took anything from this conference, it was an even greater respect for Kate and the fact that JF and Belanna now have a solid place in my heart. KJ was already there..LOL.
I have never been to a conference before, but have heard the wonderful stories and reports and such about them. Everything I had heard was true and then some. Meeting the stars ia a huge part of it, but the friendships you make are priceless.
We drove a grand total of 62 hours, went through two huge storms (KJ's driving skills are razor sharp),established the fact that the United States is mostly cornfields, met a Goddess, and figured out that there are not enough Starbucks in the US. All in all, I wouldn't trade a single minute of the entire trip for anything. This trip will be amongst my most treasured memories.
I do have pictures to post, I swear.

Those are awesome pictures, Belanna! Some of those places in Ohio, I've been there.. it was good seeing them again. Colorado looks pretty. And the Effingham sign was hilarious. "We totally have to make this an annual thing!!!" I agree. Even if I can't make it every year, I love everyone's reports and pictures!

Awe, mel, where's the pictures of Kate? ?? LOL. So, I totally can't stop watching our video. Everytime I see it, I smile. And it's really funny, when I first got home and started thinking about the weekend, I couldn't remember any of the questions Kate was asked, but now they are starting to come to me....Isn't that weird. Unrelated to our poem, the best line she said was "So when you see Bobby Hagan, you tell him to mind his own business!!!" I LOVED IT!!!!!! oh, that and the whole "En-gazsh" thing!!!!!

Humm. How does one describe meeting one's idol? I mean I knew it would be ....awesome and awe-inspiring; however, I did not expect it to honestly be as rushed as it was. Nevertheless it was amazing and here is how it went. Let's see....where to start..... Oh, yeah. The Beginning.
Les and I packed it up into my car late at midnight Tuesday night and started our 18 hour drive to Denver to pick up Mel. The ride was looooong and very boring from, oh about Utah (the worst state in the world) and on. So once we hit Utah and Les fell asleep, I put in Mosaic audio CD and listened to Kate all the way to Wyoming. Only until we hit Colorado did the beautiful scenery start. We rolled into Denver at about eight at night Wednesday, and got the first Motel 6 off the highway. I remember thinking...'humm. I'm meeting Kate Mulgrew in two days,' but I was still in excitement denial. I went to bed and the next morning set off to get Mel.
Once we got Mel, saw a movie, and got our Starbucks....we set off, yet again, for another 18 hour drive. I have to say that it was one of the best road trips I have ever been in. I got to meet a two new best friends, for the very first time, which may never have been possible, had it not been for Kate. The next 18 hours were full of, why we love Kate, and Janeway, and Voyager, and anything and everything in between. We had traffic, construction, ridiculous road signs that said things from "Abortion stops a beating" to "Trust in Jesus", HUGE crosses, endless fields of corn, a very cool thunderstorm, which took us off the road because of the down pour of rain and wind. Alas, the last hour came and it seemed like it would never end. Mel and Less were asleep as we went into the final half an hour, and as I looked off to the side of the road I saw I sign that said, "Its about Time." LOL!! It could not have been more closer to the truth. Finally, exhausted and excited we pulled into the hotel, that would bring our Goddess to us.
We went straight to our room. Poor tired Mel had stayed up most of the night with Les and I driving, and within twenty minutes she was out. Les plugged right into the Internet, while I completely restless and too excited to see Sarah, wandered the halls and began to make friends with Danny, one of Vulkon's volunteer security staff and a few others waiting for their rooms. Back and fourth I walked ....waiting and waiting....I watched Vulkon set up the Dealers room, and get the Ballroom ready.
Finally Sarah called me, letting me know she was there, and to come out and meet her. I honestly was terrified. Sure Sarah and I had im'ed, texted, and talked on the phone, but just as it was meeting Mel, it just made it that more real. I was really meeting them, and we were all there to meet HER!!! I found Sarah and between telling her all about the info I picked up walking around the hotel and talking to Danny. We all were finally in the same room, and then we all decided to go to lunch. We hit Starbucks and talked all about meeting Kate, how nervous we were, who's gonna throw-up and who's was gonna pass out! We went back to the hotel and prepared for the day to come, roaming the halls, till registration started. We were in line for quite awhile, joking and talking about the day to come. It was really quite hilarious really. Finally we got your tickets and the girls bought pictures for Kate and Tim to sign. We had dinner and then went back to roaming. We ran into Tim Russ coming out of his cocktail party, Richie went over and told him 'hi'. We went back to the hotel, posted a bit, watched some video's, and once Richie fell asleep Sarah and I went off to practice for our bit moment when Kate would love us forever!
We went to bed, and thankfully I was exhausted from the drive so I fell right to sleep, and woke up around 7 the next morning, jumping out of my bed, and put it Bride of Chaotica, till I got the bathroom to get ready after Sarah, as she was the only one awake. As soon as everyone was ready to go, we all went down to stand in line so Richie could get Tim's autograph. After that, we went straight to Kate's photo opt line and were only about 15th in line.
I remember standing in line waiting, we were all chatting about the loud-mouthed Vulkon staff member whom kept shouting...."I need everyone as far against the wall as possible, people need to get by you!" We all complained and talked about what we were gonna do when we met/saw her. I attempted to keep my attention on our conversation, but I kept looking at the door, knowing that at any moment, she would be walking in. As luck would have it, I turned my head to glace at the door again, and I saw her. It was just a second because she was walking straight into the room. It was her! Kate Mulgrew!! Captain Kathryn Janeway!!!!!! Oh my g-d!!!! I wanted to scream and pass-out all right there!!
I turned as soon as she had gone from my site and grasped Mel's arm as I spun around. What was it I said? I think it was something like....Oh my G-D!!! ITS HER!! I know I scared Mel, as she jumped two feet in the air, and the fact that she said, "Oh my g-d, you scared the crap out of me!" But once she realized what I was talking about she also turned to look.
Soon after, the line started to move very quickly. I was freaking out now. I has so many things running through my mind.'Was she going to say?'...'What do I say to her?'....'I'm going freaking say something stupid!'...'This photo will look so rigiculous...georgoous Kate Mulgrew next to my fat-butt....Gaaa!' Not to mention that I was about to stand next to her, not once, but TWICE! Once alone and one with Sarah. I was standing behind Sarah and Richie who were cool as ever. I looked at Sarah and asked her "How can you be so calm!' and she replied, 'You can't see me on the inside.' Ahhh! How infuriating!!! "Great" I thought. "Great. I'm gonna be a blubbering idiot!" Finally the moment came, and we went around the corner and saw her standing there. She was SOOOO beautiful!!!! There was no gracefully way to meet her for the first time, I decided. Sarah and Richie got their picture taken and now it was Sarah and me. I took a deep breath and prayed for the best. I walked up to Kate and Sarah. Kate said 'hello' as I approached and I believe that is where I stopped breathing. I took my place to her right and the camera man looked through his camera and back at me, then motioned for me to move closer to Kate!!!!! I thought ...."What!?!" "Really?!" "OMG." I moved two steps closer and he took the picture. Luckily enough for Sarah and I, I blinked. Awe, man another one.....darn. HA! *snap* Went the last one, and Sarah moved away and I stayed in place. Kate then turned to me and asked/ more less assumed....."You have another one?" I nodded and we both turned again to the camera, while I stupidly mumbled...."This is horrid, your absolutely gorgeous and I'm gonna throw this picture off." To which she replied, 'Oh nonsense." We got the picture again she turned to ma and thanked me, and I left making a mental note never EVER, to mumble in the presence of her majesty AGAIN!!!
We all went out to get lunch and talked about meeting her and what we said, what she said. Then It struck me....Sarah and I would be doing our thing for Kate in two hours!!!! Sure we had been practicing over the last two months and twenty times last might, but this will be completely different....this is in front of her!!!!!
We all went back and listened to Tim Russ talk....Ha Ha!! Very hilarious.....back to Kate story.
As soon as Tim was over Sarah and I went back to practicing. One hour to go!!! Now is when we started panicking....Sarah kept saying 'I'm gonna throw-up' and I saying "I'm gonna pass-out." Finally we both decided to get some reassurance and run the poem by Mel and Les. Needless to say they loved it, and we were now leaving to go.
Alas the time for her came, and a lot of it was a blur, but her entrance would be forever in my memory! She came in and after seeing it many times on clips and reading it in transcrips....it wasn't the same. She was here, right in front of me!!!! I sat there with a knot in my throt....waiting for it to loosen to get up to ask her if we could read it to her. I saw that my friend Danny had the mic. (Oh could it get any easier?) Then from some helpful words from someone who shall remain nameless, I got Danny's attention and got the mic for the next question. After stuttering my intro that went something like this...."Hi Kate. M-my friend and I were wondering if we could read you s-something we wrote for you, really s-short." ( I had a better intro planned in my head, but with her standing there staring at ME!!! It didn't come out so gracefully.) To which she replied, "Yes of course." I heard Sarah squeal with delight and hop up next to me. Then Kate said "But be loud...and clear be clear." and then we started our poem. (which can be read above, in Sarah's post)
We go laughs and cheers and Kate LOVED it!!!She thanked us and we sat beck down. There was mention of the shirts Sarah and I were wearing and Kate was not so sure how she thought about it. LOL!!! It was A M A Z I N G!!!!! Soon Kate left to go to the autograph line....We all waited for our turn. We did pictures of everyone (much to my dismay and horror, as I hate pictures of me, and is now my reason for not touching carbs....EVER AGAIN)
Whoo...Hoo. We got in line and started our journey close to Kate again. My turn came she looked up at me took my picture and said as she was signing it, "Ah, Admiral Janeway." She slid the picture to me and said thank you and I moved along with Sarah. Now it was time for Sarah and I to haul major ass, get Kate's gift, and get back for the meet and greet.
As we arrived, we got there before Kate, but not soon after she arrived. Sarah and I noticed that she was saying her hello's and goodbyes very fast. She finally came up to us, we shook hands, I told her she was fabulous, and thank you again. Sarah then handed her present to Kate, and Kate said "Oh thank you, how very sweet." Then Sarah asked for a picture with us. She said 'of course' and as we were getting into our places beside her Sarah asked if she liked her poem. As realization dawned on her, Kate said, "Ah, Ladies and Gentleman we have the poets. I loved it. You ladies made the day." After the picture Sarah and I were both so elated that we did not mind so much when she moved on and sadly departed. We walked back to the room very proud and pleased with ourselves. I think that tis memory of Kate will never EVER leave me.
****Okay, this is part one of two. Stand by for my report on dinner, getting hit on, and getting drunk with Tim Russ.***

OMG!! I totally didn't remember her saying "how very sweet," until you wrote that!!! Then it totally came back to me!!! LOL. I LOVE HER!! I LOVE HER!!! I LOVE HER!!! Then from some helpful words from someone who shall remain nameless, I got Danny's attention and got the mic for the next question. Oh come on!!! Give me the credit I deserve!!! LOL After going up to the front to take a picture of Kate, I stopped my KJ's chair, and ever so politely....lol, said to her, "If you're not going to do it, let me know, because I will!" LOL. She just needed a little nudge is all..... apparently KJ is a huge wuss.....but it's ok...I still love her!!

Kj is not a wuss....it was A HUGE thing to get up like that...she just needed a bit of time to compose herself, that's all. Heck, I could barely stand there to get my photograph done, much less read a poem in front of all those people and Herself. You guys did a fabulous job though. I have watched that video a few hundred times already. So....what is planned for next time? ?? Inquiring minds want to know!
