I feel bad for Christie Golden. She wrote the Endgame and post-Endgame series, as well as the Spirit Walk books. What if she wants to write another Voyager book? Is she supposed to just change whatever plot she had in mind to account for Janeway's death? My guess would be that she would simply write her story as if the Peter David book never happened. I've been reading "Trek" books for years but they hardly ever take another book into consideration except those that run in series like Christie Golden's. I haven't read "Before Dishonor", I did read "Death in Winter" the first in that series - each of these books was written by a different author and judging by the review Peter David played fast and loose with their characters too. I guess she could just ignore, it, true. I think I'm still mad about it, to be honest. And I haven't even read any either of the books in the series.

The main relationship in TNG is Picard/Crusher, and it was planned from the start. They did a pretty good job with it through the series, even having them admit they were in love with each other in the last season, and in the very last episode, they showed a possible future in which they were married and divorced, but clearly still in love with each other.
Then there's Troi/Riker which is the equivalent of Torres/Paris, with them eventually getting married in canon. Troi had a brief fling with Worf (who eventually moved to DS9 and married Jadzia Dax) before settling down with Riker, though, and Riker, being a player, had a bunch of affairs along the way (a la Captain Kirk). But Troi/Riker were canonically a couple before, during, and after the series.
There are also hints of Data/Geordi though it's unclear whether they're ever more than friends. (Geordi was intended to be gay when the series started, but TPTB wimped out, though he never got really paired with women either, and Data was an android, so didn't have a sexual preference, but was shown with females: Data had a fling with Tasha Yar before she died in Season 1, with a random crewmember in the episode "In Theory," and with the Borg Queen in movie #8).
