Ok, guys. I think it's time we have a chat about TVC. I'm sure most of you have noticed that we are pretty much dead at this point. Nobody is visting anymore, nobody is joining, and worst, nobody is posting.
We're even starting to lose members. Cindy deleted her account yesterday.
I need to know what you guys think we should do. I don't want to lose TVC, but it appears it may be a lost cause.....
I log in every single day (except for when something major happens, which isn't too frequently). I post when I can... when I have something good to say. It's just harder when no one else seems to think they have anything good to say either; like a "stalemate", if you will, with no progression. Perhaps if the spirit of Voyager can be rekindled amongst us, everyone will be eager to talk about it again. I know I always am.

Yes. In some regards, this thread is "preaching to the choir." Several days in a row, it is myself, kj and ddl who are the only ones who log in. We need to get back to the way we used to be. We've never fully recovered from losing Van as one of our top posters....but it can't be the end of TVC. We've got to find some way to bring it back to life.
And I'm the lame-o who sees this thread almost a month later I know I have majorly slacked on posting here over the last year or so and that is something I definitely want to change. I really enjoy the community here since I don't know anyone IRL (except my dad) who likes Star Trek. He's more of a TNG, TOS guy too ;D I know what DDL's talking about though. Sometimes I just chicken out of posting something because I think it will sound stupid or what not.
I know also we've all had a lot going on in our lives and I know for me, that's been a reason for my absences. School, family crap, work, other issues. But I'm tired of letting all that stuff take over 24/7, and I think I deserve some time to do the stuff I enjoy, like watch Voyager and talk about it here! So count me in for helping to turn things around!
So I think that it is time to bring this topic up again. I know that alot of us are alot more busy with life and all. I my self am guilty of not posting. What do you all think will help with the posting. It seems like when people do post it is a game that we are playing. I am not saying that is bad playing hangman, but I think we need to start having some more discussions whether they are Star Trek or non-Star Trek related.
I read in some of the posts above that some didnt feel like posted because of the fear of sounding silly. I think that you all should just post and if we have a " blond" moment then that is okay!! I know I say stupid things all the time! So my ideas...
Go through the topics, delete the ones by old members that havent been touched in a LOOOONG time. Also deleting ones that are "out of date" This might help make the board easier to get around. I know i fell like I dont wnat to post in something that is realy old because I feel like I have to read everything posted before I post again incase I repeat something. So that will help with that.
Maybe adding a few more skins? Give us variety in how we want the page to look after we log in.
I think one of the biggest things that is contributing to the dwindling posting is how long it has been since the show has ended. Not everyone has the DVD's to watch(of course I don't know how you would survive without them) So if someone has an idea for this. Maybe rotate an episode of the day where someone has to write a review of an episode. Starting with the first and going through to the end. We could post comments if we liked that episode hated it, etc...
So I know this isn't alot and it wont change over night but if you have any comments or ideas please post them here. This is your board too!

I'm on board with any ideas. But no deleting old threads.
People shouldn't feel embarrassed to post in old threads. If they are, they can begin new ones. But I don't want to delete our old conversations. I like reading over them from time to time.
Yeah, I want to keep our old threads too. They're part of our history. =]
I have the usual excuse... college work. I have a little over six more years left before my Ph.D. (approximately). But I still try to log in every day, so if something besides Hangman gets going on, that would be awesome. I'm up for the review thing. I want this place to be more active too.
Have you considered advertising it elsewhere to get some new members?

I doubt this place will ever close down. Too much fun has been had and too many friendships have been made for the closing of this place to be a reasonable act. If it was a paid venture to keep this place running I'd understand.
Honestly, I would love to help bring this place back to life. However, it's kind of a personal hard thing. For some reason I really don't like to use the internet on laptops. I like it much more on desktops. The only desktop I have access to anymore is my work computer and we're really not supposed to use the internet for personal stuff (though I do check in here every day). And with about 95% of my job not being at a computer desk, my internet activity gets noticed more often than other people. There are some times when I do use the internet on my laptop, but I'm not on for very long.
I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but Josh is joining the main part of the Air Force and leaves for basic in March. The job he's taking guarantees that he won't be deployed. We will be moving to Washington state and will most likely be there by the beginning of next school year. Anyway, we'll be able to get the iMac we want and I won't have to work a full-time job so I'll have more time for Star Trek and TVC again.
I think one of the biggest things that is contributing to the dwindling posting is how long it has been since the show has ended. Not everyone has the DVD's to watch.
This is definitely true. The first Proboards forum I joined was a Ted Raimi fan forum. It was up and kickin' when I first joined, but since the great Ted Raimi hasn't been doing much lately and hasn't done anything with his website for a couple years, it seems like there's been only maybe one post every few months. And it's always by the same person. As of now, there hasn't been a post since May. Over there we've all already come to the conclusion that the Tedite fandom is dwindling because of his lack of any major activity.

Amen Mara. If it weren't for TVC, I wouldn't have my bestie KJ!!! And we wouldn't have read Kate a poem!!! And we wouldn't be planning super awesome trips together.

*sniff* I love this place. Even when I haven't watched VOY for many months I still feel like I'm part of the VOY family .
You know how long it's been since I went 20 hours without logging in and when I do the recent posts page is almost completely new posts? Thank you for joining, snowbelle

I am leaving TVC. I will be transferring all passwords to Mel, who can log in as JF whenever maintenance as an admin is required. I no longer have the energy to put toward maintaining the board. Thank you so much for your frienships over the years. I'll see you all on facebook.
