Okay, found this on the STMB. The release date for the next ST movie is set for Christmas day 2008. Info <-- Click me I am kinda worried about ratings. |

So, I hear that they want Matt Damon to play Kirk, Adrian Broody for Spock, and the oh so yummy Gary Sinise to play McCoy! Yum. I can not remember where my sister got the info, but I'll get the web site later and post it.

Do you think that this will be sucessful? Ent took place before TOS and it didn't do that well. I am worried that if this movie does bad then they wont consider making a Voyager movie.
Those are good actors though!

Mel, you're question can be answered in one word. NO!!!!!! This movie will do horribly. People don't want you moving into the past, they want the future. This isn't Star Wars after all.  I am soooo sad, because I don't think that we will EVER get a Voyager movie  That makes me sooooo mad. |

Here's another article that I found about the movie: Click HereIt's disturbing that they mention Enterprise as a prequel that only lasted four seasons. Then they go on to describe how great this stupid prequel idea is going to be. Am I the only one who sees the concern in that? I was talking to my dad about this last week, and he said the thing that irritates him is that NO Star Trek movie didn't make money. All of them made money. Paramount is just mad because they didn't all make TONS of money!!!! And that Paramount should stop being so greedy and just listen to their fans!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. |

I'm worried about the whole "going back to the beginning" thing. Enterprise didn't do that well with the whole back to basics. There has been alot of buzz going around about potential stars for the new movie (http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/news.php?id=5428) is one. I think Gary Sinise would be the perfect McCoy.
Oh, nuts, I forgot to introduce myself....I got all excited about joining and being able to indulge in my obsession! Hi!

The prequel is a stupid idea! rating will plumet and they'll never do another movie coz any self respecting fan will have torched the building! It makes me so mad. They have so many story lines given to them from Voyager and even DS9. If they were worried about making a loss using only the one cast they should have just amalgamated the 2! As lovely as the actors are that their putting forward half the fun of Star trek is seeing your favorite actors in your favorite roles. The characters will fall flat with no one to introduce them. A member of the old cast introducted the new in every series and every cast change in the movies. This whole idea stinks!!!  sorry rant over |

Oh believe me I feel the same...Prequals are done....oh ...screw it...do an inbetwequel...like Lion King 1 1/2.... or an Equal like Shock Treatment is to Rocky Horror Picture show....everyones doing Prequals trying to be like George Lucas!
