trekexpo.netJune 26-28 My dates are clear for this particular weekend, so I'm sure I'll probably be volunteering again. I just got an e-mail saying who's going to be there so far: Leonard Nimoy / Spock / Sat Avery Brooks / Sisko / Sun Marina Sirtis / Deanna Troy John DeLancie / Q Garrett Wang / harry Kim Cirroc Lofton / Jake Sisco Corin Nemec / Jonas Quinn Anthony Montgomery / Travis Mayweather Bobby Clark / The Gorn & more to come!! I would SO love to meet Leonard Nimoy! Vulcans rule! Garrett Wang would be only the 3rd Voyager person I meet, but the 4th I get to see in person. (In 2007, I met Ethan Phillips and Robert Picardo, but I didn't get to meet Kate Mulgrew, just see her on stage.) I'm not sure if I'll be able to be there on Sunday, though, because our church is doing our 4th of July celebration that day (the Sunday before the 4th). My fiance (or husband by that time) will be away for an air force thing from that weekend until July 11th... I'll be sad about him being gone, but that just means I'll have to do more to occupy my time so it doesn't seem so bad. I think Trek Expo makes up for that, haha!

OK, I'm back from day 2 of 3 volunteering at Trek Expo! So far it's been crazy at registration. With pre-orders alone we had 3 times as many people! I'm pretty sure it's mostly because Leonard Nimoy was here. Chase Masterson, the woman that played Leeta in DS9, is so friendly! She's one of those who will come up to you and talk to you instead of you needing to say something to her first. She came up and got fairly acquainted with us on the far right side of registration and then went to say hi to the guy in charge of the event, stopping to say hi to fans she remembered on the way.
I've at least seen all the stars there. I didn't know until this weekend that all these years I've been saying Garrett Wang's last name wrong. I've been saying it with a long "a" like to rhyme with "twang" or "dang," but it sounds like "Wong," like rhyming with "wrong" or "song." Makes sense because with my maiden name the second "a" had the short "o" sound as well.
IDK if you have heard of Grease Trek, but on TrekSpace.org the guy who runs the Grease Trek profile there said he was going to be here and I told him I'd see him there. I met him today, a guy named Jason McKean. He and his brother Scott created the short movie. I'd heard of it before, but known little about it. It's a funny short film (45 minutes) saying "what if the original crew ran a fast food joint like they run the Enterprise?" It started out as just a small project to test out their new DV camera and some new software. I haven't watched it yet, but Jason gave me a free copy so when I'm done typing this I'm going to watch it.
Marina Sirtis is hilarious, Nimoy is absolutely delightful, and I regret missing most of John de Lancie on stage because I hear he's a fan favorite. I did get some pictures, though. You know what, I have them on my computer already so before I watch Grease Trek I'm going to upload some of those and post a few here.
OK, nvm, I'll post pictures later because Facebook is running really slowly for me right now.

Garrett was hilarious on stage!! OMG... There was a long story he told about something that I think started last night. I wasn't there because it was an extra ticketed event, but Garrett was the host of it. After John de Lancie was done reading a poem he was leaving through the curtains and the whole thing fell down on him. He was completely unhurt, but Garrett had to stall while the crew fixed it. He made a joke that it fell down because of the sheer power of Q. Then at one point he held his fist up and shouted "by the power of de Lancie!" I think it was this morning that they were going to get gas (I guess he and his handler) when the truck stalled. Garrett pointed at it and said "by the power of de Lancie!" and it started! Then he said "OMG, I think I just started a new cult" and joked that there was going to suddenly appear in Tulsa The Church of de Lancie! That's obviously his new favorite phrase cuz he said it many times during his talk. When it was about time for him to be done, he saw a fan dressed as I guess a type of wizard and asked to borrow his staff with a lighting ball at the top. He then raised it in the air and shouted "by the power of de Lancie!" It was awesome, but the only pictures I got of it are out of focus. OK, here's some pictures I put on my Facebook: I think I was assimilated after selling them admission tickets: Some fans were dressed as ghost busters... and then I saw their vehicle: One of my absolute favorite guests (and the only one I saw the whole time he was on stage): Jason McKean, co-creator of Grease Trek: Visitors hiding in the dealers' room, haha Nimoy talking about a fan long ago who couldn't do the Vulcan salute, so she said she was "doing it with an accent" de Lancie snuck up behind Nimoy on stage after he had been mentioned the only picture I was finally able to get of Nimoy doing the Vulcan salute Chase Masterson singing on stage Phil Morris. For some reason I kept getting Tony Todd confused with him "By the power of de Lancie!" After all these years, Cirroc Lofton is still as adorable as ever! Avery Brooks went on stage with him and sang a poem. When he was done, everyone was cheering and applauding. One person in the audience stood on the chair and whistled and Avery is pointing at him in this picture: Here's who he was pointing at: Anthony Montgomery! Family together again! Cirroc said that he really was like Avery's son and even went on vacations with him. " It was always like the Brooks family and Cirroc." So I learned how to say two names correctly this year. One I didn't think was wrong (Wang), and the other I was never sure of. I never liked watching the opening credits on DS9 because I wasn't sure how to pronounce most of those names. I'm still not sure. But whenever I saw Cirroc's name I heard "SEER-uck" in my head. I heard him say his name when he was on stage and thought it sounded Vulcany. I just realized a few minutes ago that it's because it's said the exact same way as Serak, the Vulcan "savior." (sir-ROCK) I can't believe that he's still so adorable. I never really had a crush on Jake Sisko, but he was adorable and easy on the eyes. I wanted to tell him that before I left, but IDK why I didn't. Oh well. Before I left today, Audree, the wife of the man in charge of the event, asked me if I wanted to be a liaison next year because she liked my attitude and the way I handle things well. I said I'd love to. So I'm sure next year there will be even better stories. Next time I'll actually talk to more stars! But we won't know for many months who's going to be here, so I can't get too excited yet.
