Honestly, they are definitely better than a PC. They cost more for a good reason. I have a MacBook that is almost 7 years old and still runs new programs pretty well. I can't say the same for my 3-year-old Windows laptop. (Of course, that one was an emergency on-the-spot buy that I didn't have time to do a lot of shopping around for.) But generally, Apple makes better quality products than any other home computer company. Sadly, because PCs are less expensive, most software isn't compatible for a Mac. (Hence my emergency Windows laptop purchase.) It also depends on what your computer needs are. Video making? Gaming? Internet? A lot of things are sufficient for just a PC.

True true.
Its mostly for internet, writing, and school.
It'd be awesome to have a bluray player... why I don't know. Also my itunes... a PC would do the trick... but I want the Mac.

HAHA I just got a dell also(we rock!), 15inch, 6 gig. Nate made it for me (techie geek he had fun), it's blue!!!! I am uber excited to get it! Other than those three things I have no idea what he put into it. I actually just had to ask him about it because I didnt remember. LOL
