Today at work one of my minions was putting away our truck order, and he came into the office and asked me if he could take a break...... I told him "sure thing Ensign," to which he stood there and gave me a look that clearly said I was weird....so I told him "dismissed." When he continued to look at me like I was a nerd I (and Janeway would be so proud of me)....told him "that was a Starfleet term for 'get out'." He of course told me I needed help and walked away shaking his head like I lost it.... Maybe I have lost it....but alas, where better of a place to be stranded. OMG, I laughed outloud when I read that; that is sooo funny!! Here's mine. When my lab supervisor assigns me something to do, sometimes I confirm with an "Aye, Captain". I get that same grin and shaking of the head from her that you got from your minion. Oh, and I caught myself doing the dip & turn the other day when someone called my name.

Now that I'm actually thinking about how trek relates to life, I found more:
1. Red & Black are my clogging team's colors; they've always been my favorite. On the new Treks the command staff wear Red & Black.....
2. I loved Janeway's makeup in season 5 so much that I learned how to do my eyes like hers (brown on the outside with a shimmery white on the lids and undeneath the brows). I've even tried to match my lipstick to hers (this style makeup is most prominent in Dark Frontier and Think Tank). I've received many compliments since I started doing my makeup this way.
3. I bought a satin nightgown cause it looked like Janeway's in Q and the Grey.
4. The company that makes our glass bottles for the lab is called Wheaton (like Wil Wheaton aka Wesley Crusher; loved him!!!)

My occurance today was the fact that I watched Voyager...the great part about it was that I watched it on DVD.... My Directv went out because of the storms so I popped in the DVD's and beteween each episode I checked to see if my T.V. was back on and it wasn't...around 3 (central time) I went to see if T.V. was back on and it was JUST IN TIME FOR VOYAGER ON SPIKE...then after the two hours of Voyager....T.V. went out again....

My friend and I were in an argument the other day...and of course I adapted Tuvok's logical mannerisms to help with my argument (needless to say, it worked).
Also, we were discussing medical ethics in one of my college classes. I remembered the episode were the Doctor realizes that the treatment he is using was obtained by sacrificing innocent lives. I used it as an example, but sans any Trek references.

Before I forget, one of the teachers at my college (who was a sub in my computer animation class), worked on Voyager. He did some of the special effects (and commented on the amount of time it takes to render the scenes).
I need to see if he still teaches and take one of his classes.

Wow. I want to attend a college with teachers that worked on Voyager! The closest I can come is knowing a guy who worked on both Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Yesterday I reasoned logically like Tuvok with someone, but unfortunately, he didn't care and so I missed the end of one of the Voyager episodes so he could see part of Mythbusters.

I worked out last night and woke up with a knot on the left side of my lower back. I started massaging it and then busted out laughing, thinking this is the same place that Janeway had and "old academy injury" in Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy, and then she slides the Doctor's hand down to her lower back. I thought, " where's the EMH when you need him?".

^^ haha that's so funny! sometimes I really wish I had my own EMH! Yesterday I was watching 'The Q and the Grey' on DVR and my sister, who's 12, was watching it to. When the Voyager crew busts into the Contiuum to help Q's 'side' fight, my sister said, "Well, they're not only good space people, they're good fighter people" And yes I was incredibly happy to hear her say that

That's great!!! I love her comment! I see a future voyager fanatic- great recruiting job!! I'm working on hooking my nieces (so far I've got 2 hooked; one even wanted to go to the convention with me and is so bummed that she can't go. I may pay extra and get an autograph for her......)

I wasn't gonna be able to go because of work, either. Right when I went to ask off, I realized another analyst had that weekend off and I had to fill in for HER. I was so bummed, I think I fell into a deep depression. Then another analyst rearranged her schedule and said to me, " okay Nessa, book a flight". I was so thrilled........she's my new best friend (besides Kate Mulgrew). I'm sorry you can't go, but since Voyager has become so popular again because of its airings on Spike, I'm sure Kate will do more conventions in the future. I will definately take lots of pictures and give you a full report.

Aww, you have my envy as well, Van! I can't wait to see the pictures and read the report.. not as good as being there (nothing compares to Kate in person), but at least then I can see a little of the awesomeness and pretend I was there!
