Ok, so I've started thinking about some of my favorite episodes....and the best of the two parters....and I've noticed an overwhelming trend. Future's End.....Janeway goes down to Earth. Chakotay goes down to Earth. Tuvok goes down to Earth. Tom goes down to Earth. B'Elanna goes down to Earth. The freaking Doctor goes to Earth! But where's Harry? On Voyager..... Killing Game....Janeway is a Klingon, then Bogart. Chakotay is a soldier. Tuvok is a resistance fighter. Tom is a soldier. B'Elanna is a resistance fighter. Neelix is a Klingon. Seven is Bacall. But where's Harry? On the bridge..... Timeless.....Janeway goes down in the crash. Tuvok goes down in the crash. Tom goes down in the crash. B'Elanna goes down in the crash. The Doctor goes down in the crash. Neelix goes down in the crash. Seven goes down in the crash. But where's Harry? On the Delta Flyer..... Workforce....Janeway gets a new life. Chakotay goes down and saves the day. Tuvok gets a new life. Tom gets a new life. B'Elanna gets a new life. Neelix gets a new life. Seven gets a new life. But where's Harry? Once again.....on freaking VOYAGER....... Is anyone else noticing a trend here? ??

I never really noticed until Garrett started complaining about it. It affects Garrett fans more personally, but I sympathize. However, considering the kind of bum episodes some of the characters were given (Threshold, for instance, or The Fight), perhaps that was their way of making it up to them.
My better theory is that since it was either Harry or Kes that they were going to ditch the fourth season and the prime reason it was Harry that stayed was because some of the female population appreciates him, they decided that they still didn't have much they could do with him and let him have the less exciting parts.

Oh whatever!!! Harry was untapped potential!!! They TOTALLY could have used him FAR more than they did!!!
The problem is B&B's lack of imagination......nothing about Harry's part. I could sit here in the next hour and come up five great Harry storylines.
Ok...but I'm getting off my soapbox now....**goes and huddles in a corner**

I agree, and you make good points. All those great eps, and true...Harry has like bit parts. It really wasn't fair to him. I feel bad for Garrett, and I'm pretty sure B&B didn't really care

Harry was the weakest character in the series but he did actually have some potential which was never used. During the whole show he was "young, green Ensign Kim" and also the "whipping boy" (the one who couldn't fetch a glass of water in the mess hall without getting into trouble). Compare that to the Voyager books where he's actually doing something (OK, he ends up in sickbay badly injured in many of them but that's another story). I can understand that actor Garret Wang wasn't too pleased with those in charge of the show.

Tom didn't have it so great either. Sure, after he got with Torres things looked up, but what about beforehand? What happened in EVERY "Tom episode" before Torres hooked up with him? He got taken over by something/DNA swapped/evolved or otherwise damaged. He didn't get the super neat episodes like some people did either. (Although I freely admit he did have it better than Harry.)

He was definitely the writers and producers "whipping boy".
