The coma yes. THe bullshit afterwards about how she could never know what happened, because if she did, it would lead to a complete mental breakdown....not one bit!!!

They actually said that? Did the author ever watch the show??

It was retarded....it was more than retarded....it was horrible. The author was attempting to justify Janeway's sometimes conflicting actions.
As if stranding her crew in the Delta Quadrant and all of that guilt, greif, pain, resentment, loneliness, anger, and sadness weren't reason enough for her to sometimes act out of character.....
It really ruined the entire trilogy for me.

I don't blame you for being irritated because of it. Sounds like the author didn't really understand Janeway's character at all.

I've started reading this Virtual Voyager thing, going to finish the third one today, I think. What you guys have said about this infamous "last chapter" sounds somewhat disconcerting - should I not read that one then? If it's a character I like who dies, I think it would be incredibly disappointing. On another note, it kind of bugged me in the second one where Chuckles confronts Janeway about what she did. He was fairly aggressive and spoke to her in a way that would make almost anyone go on the offensive. Considering the circumstances, I don't honestly think he would have reacted that way. I'm not an expert on his character, but he tends to lean towards being gentle. He told her that she had no right to do that to him and that he never wanted to be put in that situation again. It almost sounded slightly threatening. I reference "Dreadnought" for my argument. Torres is speaking of when she sent Dreadnought out without Chakotay's permission, undermining his command. "...all he said, in that d**ned soft voice of his, was that I'd hurt him. That he thought he'd earned my trust and loyalty." While the situation Janeway put Chakotay in would have made an average man pretty angry, Chuckles has proven to be slow to anger (from what I've seen) and when a good friend of his like Janeway, who is particularly close to him, does something like that, his first reaction seems to be hurt instead of malice. Just my opinion.

When I read these three books, I hated them!!!! Okay, Homecoming wasn't so bad as it did give me some type of closure (which I did not get in endgame). The other two...nope. Janeway is not a "desk" type person...I have to agree, she would step down and go back on the line.

maybe they could do a movie about something that makes her step back into the captains chair? they did it with kirk so why not Janeway? she is so not the type of person to sit back and watch while others fight and of course she would insist on all the old crew being there they could maybe even write kes back in I really like my deluded world
