I don't have a digital converter so I couldn't watch the SOTU address last night. I had to wait until this morning when it was put on youtube. So my thoughts will probably stream randomly, as I'm typing as I listen:
If I hear one more person drone on and on about how under appreciated teachers are, I'm going to scream. Teaching is one of the MOST secure jobs in the country. In most states it takes an act of God to fire a teacher. Teachers aren't required, in most states, to pay anything into their retirement or even their benefits. It's the only profession in the country that pays you 12 months of salary for 9 months of work. You get EVERY major holiday off. And your work days run 7 hours.
And the teachers want to sit around and whine. Nobody's buying it!!!!!
And if the president does not start referring to Illegal Aliens as such, my head is going to explode. Amnesty does NOT work. I don't CARE if those aliens have children. They have NO right to be in this country. Secure the borders, and get the illegals OUT!!!! And while they're at it, stop skewing the 14th Amendment and do away with anchor babies!!!!!
I find it interesting he'd joke about the TSA when, he appointed Napolitano in the first place. If you don't like the patdowns, stop them. It's obvious they don't do any good anyway. Of course, as president and lawmakers, they're not forced to go through the everyday security measures we citizens do.
As for ObamaCare, I believe the citizens have been very clear that they don't want the bill "fixed" they want it destroyed. Obama, you are digging your own grave. You may go down clutching it in your fists, but you will lose.
Although, it is amusing it took a whole 36 minutes before pulling out the "it's all Bush's fault" card.
Grrrrrrrrr. I can't even touch on the topic of military cuts. Never mind that the entire purpose for the federal government's existence is to protect the citizens of the nation so that they can live their lives.
I hate how he tries to create this ridiculous class warfare too. It never works, because Americans want to earn their success. It's part of the great American spirit. We don't want it at someone else's expense. Atleast we didn't used to. I'm sorry, but the richest 2% in the country pay over 40% of ALL federal tax!!!!!! Almost 50% of people in this country pay NO federal tax at all. You tell me how taking a tax break from the rich is anything BUT punishing their success.
If you really want a "just" tax, you need either a flat or fair tax. Or here's a great idea.....get federal government out of everything they were never meant to be in anyway, and do away with the IRS, the income tax, the death tax, the corporate gains taxes, etc.
HA HA HA HA HA. Now he just vowed to veto any bills with earmarks. Nevermind the ObamaCare bill which was bought and paid for through massive earmarks!!!
Interesting, when the president brought up the repeal of DADT, not only did no military official stand, not one of them clapped. Infact, most of them looked disgruntled. Perhaps that's due to the lie in Obama's speech though. He said that after today no one will be denied the right to serve their country based on who they love. That was the entire point of DADT. No one has been denied that right since the Clinton administration. But NOW all the campuses are supposed to welcome the recruiters....because the libs got to push their agenda??? Seriously???
So in closing, I'll throw in a few thoughts. Hillary looks HORRIBLE. She's really aged terribly in the past year. And I was worried for a second there that Ginsberg had passed out. Her head was down nearly in her lap the entire time. But one of the other justices looked at her, and didn't seem too shocked, so maybe she was just writing?? Who knows. And I love watching Cantor. Partly because he's my representative, and partly because you can so tell what he's thinking by the look on his face.
I love John Boehner. And I find it more than endearing that he tears up as much as he does.
But the real highlight of the speech: Nancy Pelosi, sitting in the chamber, with all the other members. Not in the seat reserved for the Speaker!!!
This has been really long, sorry. Time to go watch Paul Ryan's GOP response and Michele Bachmann's Tea Party response!!!

After this, I watched both the GOP response and Bachmann's Tea Party response. My mom teases me, because I actually have a list of favorite politicians the same way others have lists of favorite bands, tv shows, actors, or whatever. I stopped at five, but I think I might have to expand it out to 10.
1. Sarah Palin (no brainer there) 2. Speaker of the House John Boehner (Ohio) 3. Representative Michele Bachmann (Minnesota) 4. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Virginia) 5. Governor Bob McDonnell (Virginia - I realize our governor doesn't get the attention that Christie gets....but he took us from the red to a surplus in six months time! At 6.2% our state also has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation!)
6. Governor Chris Christie (New Jersey) 7. Representative Paul Ryan (Wisconsin) 8. Representative Allen West (Florida) 9. Governor Jan Brewer (Arizona) 10. would have to be a tie between Attorney General Ken Kuccinelli (Virginia), Representative Mike Pence (Indiana) and Senator Marco Rubio (Florida).
hmmmmm......might need more than 10. LOL

Oh there wouldn't be any need for that.
I already have my assistant and my dear friend Pam has said she wants to be my campaign manager!!! (I told her she could do it, but she had to move to the WH with me!! Mainly because I want her husband Wirt to drive his tractor around the south lawn.)
