I'm watching "Media Malpractice How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted." This should be mandatory viewing material for everyone who hates Sarah Palin or who thinks that Obama is the chosen one....

I haven't seen that yet, but I don't have the means at the moment to watch it as I'm at a meeting right now (hasn't started yet). I was thinking a lot about that this morning, though, and got a rant blog together in my head. I mean, how stupid can the media possibly get? They spend so much time promoting the left and insulting the right that they don't realize how utterly stupid they sound. After last year's election, the American people made it clear that we don't believe in the left's crap and want REAL and GOOD change. The first thing out the media's mouth is stuff about how the newly elected conservative politicians need to "take the backseat where they belong." I logged into Yahoo! this morning to check my e-mail and in the news section on the front page of my mail is something about the "benefits" and "good things" about ObamaCare. I'm sorry, we've made it clear as crystal that we do NOT want ObamaCare. I can't even stand to watch the news anymore without wanting to carve "NO TO THE LEFT" in some brass knuckles and punch them all in the face. (lol, sorry, just thought of that and started cracking up.) Anyway, before I actually start getting angry, I'm going to end on this note: "The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." -Eccesiasties 10:2 (NIV) Hehe, even the Bible says so

Mara, it really was great! You should watch it. I love how the director pairs up perfect examples of how Clinton was called on issues they let Obama slide on. Then later, how Palin was called on every supposed gaffe (even those which were made up), yet Biden and Obama were constantly let off the hook.
The best part is still the voter exit interviews. It AMAZES me how few Obama voters knew who controlled Congress, who Harry Reid was, who Nancy Pelosi was.....or my personal favorite....that Obama said he'd visited 57 states.

Argh I'm so frustrated! I'm at Pizza Hut after the Monday night meeting as usual and the TV happened to be on PBS. There's a special about Ronald Reagan on so I thought I'd watch. I couldn't hear much, but read the captions as much as I could. I don't know if it was just the part I saw or the whole special, but it was focusing entirely on the negative! More people trying to further prove that he had alzheimer's during his presidency and the crap that happened that they claim he seemingly didn't care about. Honestly, I wouldn't care much more about a massive increase in AIDS either because most of the people who gets AIDS it's their own fault. Just like there's no ribbon for lung cancer because most of the people that get it it's their own fault.
I'm just glad the TV got turned off before I actually got angry.

I know you're not a cold person Mara. But those last few sentences sounded quite cold. No one should be undeserving of empathy because they made mistakes or had faults. Yes, people who contract AIDS for the most part nowadays take unnecessary risks. However, we all are guilty of this to an extent. All of us do stupid things that we know we shouldn't. It might mean that we deserve what we get. However, it certainly doesn't mean that we don't deserve concern and sympathy.
When I was in school, my town was rocked by an absolutely heartbreaking AIDS case. One of the janitors at my middle school had triplet daughters. When their mother was pregnant with them, she got very ill and had to have a blood transfusion. Unfortunately, the blood she received was HIV+. She developed the disease. As did all three girls. Crystal, the last one to go, passed away when she was in 6th grade. This man lost everything that he loved and cared about. Regardless of whether or not the original blood donor had "deserved" the disease, this family didn't.
As for lung cancer, I can't say enough that no one deserves to have to go through the agony of cancer. I watched Dah (my grandmother) battle a very rare form of breast cancer and it terrified me to my core. It sent shockwaves through my life. It ripped my family apart. I was eight when she got sick and even though she beat the cancer itself, complications from treatment mad her ill and she never recovered. My Papa, two years after she got sick, spent a night at a hotel just to get a break from being a constant caretaker. He had a brain aneurysm burst and never woke up again. Had he been at home where someone would find him, they could have saved him.
Dah died thirteen years ago last month. I watched cancer destroy my family. To this day, I physically shut down at the mention of cancer. I can't think about it. I can't talk about it. I can't listen to anyone else talk about it. Typing this is the longest I've "spoken" about it in years!! I certainly would never believe that anyone had it coming or brought it on themselves.

Warning for the faint of heart: I'd advise not reading this first paragraph if you're bothered by the subject of suicide.
I'm sorry for airing my frustrations the way I did. I didn't mean it like it came out. I know there are a lot of people who get AIDS and lung cancer and it's definitely not their fault. I know one story about a couple who got AIDS because their teenage son had it when he killed himself. When they saw his body they ran over and embraced him, not knowing he had AIDS and them coming in contact with his blood gave them the disease. One of my favorite actors died of lung cancer. I've personally known other people to have different cancers, some surviving and some not.
When I wrote what I did I was focusing on the ones whose fault it is. I wasn't saying "you deserve it" but more of "you knew this could happen." I can think of other examples, but I'll just give one that no one can get mad at me for because it's what I went through. I knew anorexia is dangerous. I knew I wasn't supposed to do it. I knew I could eventually die if I continued down that road. Yet I chose to do it anyway. I'm thankful that I finally snapped out of it and realized what I was doing, but if I had ended up in the hospital it would have been my fault. I'm not saying that people with anorexia (or AIDS, cancer, etc.) don't deserve help or to have awareness of their illness spread. Honestly, I'm not sure at the moment how to word what I really meant by what I said. Basically, something like they don't deserve it, but they knew it was going to happen. Again, this is only in reference to those whose illness was caused by their own doing.

So, there was this thing on the news that caught my eye, and that's letting people carry guns to class. People who can LEGALLY have a concealed weapons permit. Like teachers, older students. I say hell yes! Make those little punks who want to take out their classmates think freaking twice!
