You guys are getting ahead of yourselves by automatically assuming that Kate will be at Columbus. I don't actually think that she'll be there. Not to be a downer or anything. But, I just don't get that impression after talking to Gary. Sorry guys. I was thinking about this last night.... and maybe the reason Kate and her assistants are "pains" is because Vulkon is well.... a serious "pain" too. Think about it. Their unorganized. Examples..... ~ Lines for the photo's. For instance..... Or was I the only on in Columbus who remembers a certain "pain in the ass" shouting "everyone get up against the walls NOW!" ~(I'm not even going into the last minute hotel changes... or their uncanny ability to choose such a grand hotel.) ~(AND....AND....I'm not EVEN mentioning the supposed 'meet and greet.' I said more to her at the Q&A, and had more time, and didn't have to pay for that.) ~ The talent show. Mel and I were there and like eight other people.... but aside from John and a drum..... they had really nothing planned. ~And the biggest annoyance that would make even myself an overbearing "pain," is their lack of respect for the actors. Now correct me if I am wrong.... but I do remember standing... not two feet from Garrett Wang's door at what 2am..... with a group of people who were anything but quiet church mice, I might add.... who were ALL awaiting to get into a room where loud parting would ensure, all the while only a wall would separate us from and Garrett's slumber. ( I actually remember even a conversation with Mr. Wang himself saying that he even got up and went to the door to look out on the reason for his rude awaking.) Now seriously, who thinks that that was the first time something like that has happened? Not saying that it happened with Kate... cause I have no clue... but judging from the respect they show to their guests..... yeah. I'd be a HUGE "PAIN" too! So I say.... "Rock on Kate! Be an ENORMOUS PAIN and give their hangover's a thing or two to think about! Like the money they will lose for not having you there!"

Wow. I don't even have time to respond to this yet. But Wow.
And just for the record, Garrett wasn't asleep. Nor was he bothered by the sound. He was putting his pants on to come join us, and when he got back to the door, we were gone. He told us that at the photo op. And Mel made the comment about that's why he should have skipped the pants....

Indeed.....
But do you really think that Kate would have been.... 'putting on her pants to come join us?"
Not bloody likely.
What if Garrett was having a bad day? What if he was tired? What if he had a long flight and all he wanted to do was get some sleep?
All I am saying that it is a lack of respect. Seriously. You may not have minded.... But I sure as hell would. To each their own after all.
And I am not saying I was not guilty of it. I was there. I was apart of it. And I am admitting that it was rude on my behalf.
I am just questioning the mannerism of it all. Come on, you can't honestly say that you find it not rude..... in the 'idea' of it all. I mean really, is it or is it not the responsibility of the hosts to make sure their guests are taken care of? So having said that..... you would think that making sure the guests are not disturbed, especially at night when they have a very long tedious weekend ahead of them? One would think they would have the option of joining the party freely, on another floor....or in a bar..... not having to listen to it threw the walls.

Examples..... ~ Lines for the photo's. For instance..... Or was I the only on in Columbus who remembers a certain "pain in the ass" shouting "everyone get up against the walls NOW!" You can't use crowd control as an example of their disorganization. They were on top of stuff enough to not let the people be constantly taking up the entire hallway. She was obnoxious, yes. But she was doing her job. ~(I'm not even going into the last minute hotel changes... or their uncanny ability to choose such a grand hotel.) Since Kate is picked up from and carried back to the airport, the change of hotels would have very little, if any impact on her. And, from what they say, the hotel was nicer than the other one. It was a necessary switch. ~(AND....AND....I'm not EVEN mentioning the supposed 'meet and greet.' I said more to her at the Q&A, and had more time, and didn't have to pay for that.) The meet and greet that was soooo short because KATE didn't want to be there. ~ The talent show. Mel and I were there and like eight other people.... but aside from John and a drum..... they had really nothing planned. Now, this one I'll not argue. Except to say that Cleveland was FAR smaller than Columbus. And so, no, they did not do as much to make sure that everything was totally operational. I mean, I don't put as much effort into a quiz as I would for a final. That's just the way things go. Now seriously, who thinks that that was the first time something like that has happened? Not saying that it happened with Kate... cause I have no clue... but judging from the respect they show to their guests..... yeah. I'd be a HUGE "PAIN" too! Finally, Garrett is NOT Kate. Garrett is FAR more down to Earth. I mean, seriously, do you think Kate would EVER in a million years have been in that karaoke room??? Would have gotten up there with you and mel and sung karaoke? No, I don't think so. Garrett's a partier. They know that. Garrett also lives on the West Coast. So two a.m. to us (well in Cleveland) is eleven to Garrett. You can NOT assume, that just because they made noise outside of his room that they'd do it to everyone else. You absolutely canNOT assume that. After all, on Saturday night, Garrett WAS the only guest in the conference room with us. Well, aside from David. That's why people like Garrett....he doesn't need the star treatment. He's just a laid back down to earth guy. Gary NEVER would have let people be outside of Kate's room at 2 in the morning making noise. I would almost bet on it. Now, I'm not saying that I dislike Kate. Not in the slightest. I love Kate. But I realize that Kate is a human being. A human being who can, at times, be in a bad mood. And all the more power to her. If she wants to change her flight three times. Good for her. If she wants to let down her fans by deciding she doesn't want to go to the banquet. Right on. If she wants to get upset with Froggy. You go girl. But to blame the Vulkon team for her bad mood is just wrong. They did everything that they could to accomodate her. Kate is an adult. And responsible for her own actions. And, when it all comes down to it...she was paid...A LOT of money to be there.

Ah, you posted right before me. But after reading that, I get what you mean. Can't blame Vulkon for the individual people.

Ommmmm..... actually I can use it and I did. Have you not been to functions that are planned properly? They do have dividers that divide the lines from the traffic of passers by and the formation of the lines. Anyone every been to a midnight showing for a new movie? Or for us Potter fans.... a book reliese party? Anyone ever wonder what the poles with the ropes are for..... organization? Hummmmm....OMG what a freaking clever idea! Its diabolical! Someone must tell Vulkon of this amazing technology! LOL ;D The hotel switch was because they relied on pictures of the hotel from a couple years back. Their mistake was relying on them. If they were smart they would have went to the hotel, seen the place, and THEN made a decision....BEFORE informing their guests and announcing it. Say I never received that email saying they switched? And we were all stuck down the road at the crappy Holiday Inn? Or all the way across town? Stuff like that CAN happen. So I think I am perfectly justified in the hotel switches. that is ultimately what I was referring to, it had nothing to do with Kate. Indeed. I will not argue. However.... you did not pay 300.00 for two minutes. I did. This here I don't understand your point? We are both assuming that they may or may not interrupt everyone of their guests? Who honestly knows for sure? Okay, Garrett is a partier. But what about the rest of the people on the floor? Was he the ONLY guest on that floor. Hardly. I like to party just as much as the next person..... but that does not mean that just because you feel like it that I'm gonna, whether or not I like to is beside the point. I do recall going back to the room way before you or Mel did on Saturday. Sometimes you just don't feel like it. Now if I was asleep and was awoken to inconsiderate drunken fools outside my door..... the hotel would have been notified. Immediately. Now what i was getting at...... is that it is all a matter of common courtesy. That's it. And I am NOT forgetting that I WAS one of those fools. Just opening myself up to both side of the perspective. Gods I love a good debate!

Yeah, didn't they just have DS9 people? Mostly........ Who wants to see that mess? BRING ON THE VOYAGER PEOPLES FOR REAL (nothing against DS9, not really.......but Voyager is better, lol). At the Sci-Fi Ladies one they had Nicole deBoer, Marina Sirtis & Alice Krige (as well as some non-trek ladies). Nana Visitor, who I really wanted to see, was originally supposed to be there in place of Marina, but she had to cancel. It was a nice con... supposedly much smaller, a lot less people than usual. It was my first Vulkon con since like 2001. Kind of a bummer they didn't have any woman from Voyager, especially since Voyager had more main woman castmembers on it than any other Star Trek show... but they're also probably the harest to get ahold of. The one last month was kind of a mix from TOS, DS9, & ENT. Off the top of my head it had George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Dominic Keating, Connor Trinneer, Louise Fletcher, Max Grodenchik, Marc Alaimo, & Jeffrey Combs (forgive me if I just butchered any of their names). James Darren was originally supposed to be there instead of Nichelle, but he had to cancel due to low ticket sales for his concert. I really wanted to see him & was disappointed about that... but Nichelle is a lovely woman. All in all, it was a nice con... but not as nice as it would have been if they had had somebody from Voyager, lol. The one thing I didn't like about this last con that I went to is you weren't allowed to take personal photos with the bonus guests, you had to buy the photo ops, which were like at least $35 a piece. I don't know about anybody else, but I certainly could not afford a photo op with everybody... so I was just able to get one with George/Nichelle/Dominic, Connor, & Jeffrey. The main guests, I can see that you could need to buy a photo op... but the bonus guests?? He was putting his pants on to come join us, and when he got back to the door, we were gone. He told us that at the photo op. And Mel made the comment about that's why he should have skipped the pants.... *smiles like an idiot at the mere thought* Lol, I remember the day of that con, I was talking to a friend & having a pity party that "today's the day of the Garrett con, and I'm not there.... why can't he be at the con in November?!?" I kept hoping that somebody at the Orlando con would cancel & he'd magically appear there, lol. I was on youtube shortly after the Ohio con, looking for videos... & I remember stumbling onto some very cool karaoke ones;) (which honestly made me a little - or very - jealous, haha... but they were great!)

Someone must tell Vulkon of this amazing technology! LOL ;D And how do you know that they didn't want to use them? How do you know for sure that Vulkon was not only completely aware of, and ready to use dividers, and the hotel nixed the idea? Even if they didn't, plenty of functions are run without dividers. And the lack of dividers alone is not reason enough to call Vulkon unorganized. The hotel switch was because they relied on pictures of the hotel from a couple years back. So they are supposed to travel to every single location to check it out prior to an event? Companies just don't work like that. The Holiday Inn should have had up to date pictures on their website. It's not Vulkon's fault that the hotel misrepresented themselves. Indeed. I will not argue. However.... you did not pay 300.00 for two minutes. I did. The arguement was not over who paid for the tickets. And to be honest, I'm actually a tad upset that you'd take it there. The point is that the only reason you were dissapointed with the banquet and/or meet and greet in the first place was because of Kate. Kate is the one who nixed her appearance. Kate is the one who rushed out the door. Not Vulkon. Not Gary. Not Teri. Kate. This here I don't understand your point? We are both assuming that they may or may not interrupt everyone of their guests? Who honestly knows for sure? Okay, Garrett is a partier. But what about the rest of the people on the floor? Just opening myself up to both side of the perspective. Gods I love a good debate! You know, I really didn't hear you complaining when you were standing a mere three feet away from Garrett's door. Nor do I remember you telling everybody to keep it down, because Garrett was trying to sleep. If you want to keep Kate up on that pedestal and imagine that she does no wrong, you're certainly entitled to that. But I can't. Kate's a human being. Human beings are flawed. And I refuse to blame Gary and Dizzy and John and anybody else for that. I can't have as fun a weekend as I did, and meet as many awesome people as I did, and then blame them for Kate's "difficultness." Especially when they know more about dealing with her than I do. I would, however, probably settle for blaming Froggy for everything. It was, after all, because of them that Cleveland was as fun for us as it was. Well, them, and Garrett. ;D

All I'm pointing out is that there are ways to BE organized. Which they were not.
Yes they are. It's called running a SUCCESSFUL, not to mention responsible, business. It is to prevent things like last minute hotel changes from happening.
No. I am upset that they said it would a meet and greet that was supposed to last at least a half an hour. Do I need to pull out the email? Thirty minutes....not five. And Yes Kate ran out. I get it. But don't promise someone and then not deliver. Its called accountability.

Well the thing is, neither of us is looking at it from both sides. You are looking at it from your point of view. I'm looking at it from mine. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.
I'm not sorry for disturbing Garrett. I make no apologies for disturbing Garrett. I'm only sorry that I didn't just knock on the door and ask him to come join us. Because that was the beginning of my AMAZING Garrett experience. LOL. For all we know, if we hadn't disturbed him and had him peak through the peep hole, things may have turned out much much differently that weekend. I doubt it, but it is possible. He he.
I think we just have to agree to disagree. But, I will certainly be at the next reasonable Vulkon convention, because I, for one, love Vulkon, and at this point, can't imagine going to any other company's convention. Ofcourse, my opinion would change the second Garrett signed up....but still....
However, the kicking us out of the lobby was just plain bullshit.........I mean seriously. How much does a d**n phone ring at three in the morning???

Agree to defiantly disagree. And WTF?!!!? We were all obnoxious drunks! Like the hotel staff wanted to listen to us! Or have their incoming patrons exposed to our stupidity!

Um. I was NOT an obnoxious drunk. By three o'clock I wasn't even buzzing anymore. And there were no incoming patrons. THEY were just pissed off because WE were having far more fun than they were. LOL.

What, I'm serious!! Ok, I may still have been a tad buzzed, but I was not drunk. ;D
And I think the people were just mad because I kept saying that Cleveland was a hole. And then everybody else was making fun of the people in the bar.
Regardless, Cleveland kicked ass!!! And I love how we went from debating to reminiscing. LMAO.
