Beta is reading a work in progress and giving feedback/checking for grammatical errors....I believe.
Hey Rowan, our "modifications" basically mean adding our own love scenes, hee hee. More "colorful" ones, if you will *evil grin*. We'll have to get someone older to beta for us probably, one that can handle it. Do you read NC17 JC, Rowan?? You or Mel maybe? of Cindy?
I haven't read Virtual Voyager yet......I'm so behind on my fanfic it's scary.

Yes I do, and vv could do with some more colourful scenes. ;D I'm scared that I end up in the 'older' group though that maybe because a 16 yr old called me 'mum' yesterday. Seriously do i look old enough to be mum to a 16 yr old? Back to the plot...yes i can beta if u'd like but the spellings would all be English ;D I wouldn't wory bout being behind on ur fanfic u've probably read tons more other fanfic than me

you know personally I have to say I like Seven of Nine... I don't like what the producers reasons for brining her on the show was, but Seven of Nine as a character was wonderful. Not only did she help us understand more about how the Borg operate, but she kicked some serious booty. She's the type of character I like. Torn between two worlds. Not sure which side is truth and which is false. If I had to choose a character to play I'd play Seven of Nine. I loved the relationship between her and the doctor... ticked me off when they put her with Chuckles... now theres a character I hate...

My daughter (known in the Sims and Trek fandom as “Admiral Aeris”)has come up with an interesting theory as to why a lot of people have a hard time with the Seven character. The producers wanted to make an “outsider” character. This type character has worked in Trek; Spock in the Original Series, Data in Next Generation, and Odo in Deep Space Nine. Such a character is interesting because of the conflict (i.e. different point of view) the outsider character brings.
Voyager had three before Seven; Kes, Neelix, and the Doctor. The Doctor character was successful to a certain degree but Neelix became comic relief, and of course Kes was replaced by Seven. When you look at the more successful outsider characters you can see that in the cases of Spock, Data, and Odo, each had a certain amount of authority and because of that could stand toe to toe with the Captains or leader characters. Seven had no authority (she was classified as “crew”) and the conflict she brought came across to a lot of viewers as adolescent, and that was exactly the same problem a lot of fans had with the character of Wesley Crusher on “The Next Generation.”

I never disliked Seven. I sometimes found her observation of humanity hilarious. (ex. when she found out harry liked her and she told him to remove his clothing!) One argument people have against Seven is the fact that she sorta stole the thunder in later seasons. What about the Doctor? He was one of the favorites for the writers and he stole thunder as well. yet, I'm not hearing anybody complain about that.

It always bugged me that Seven and the Doc got so much attention sometimes and that the 'lesser' characters just got the table scraps. For instance, every Tom episode that was just Tom and not P/T, he seemed to get taken over by something (Steth, Alice, etc). Surely he had more potential as a character than that!
But really, the only reason I hated Seven initially was because of her dermoplastic garment. My mother refers to her as the Barbie Doll, my dad calls her something not entirely appropriate, and as for me, it just put me off. But when I started watching the show and learned to ignore it as well as I could, I began to appreciate her a bit more. I think her performance in Infinite Regress was very good, and the expressions she gets on her face sometimes are priceless.

I didn't start watching VOY until much later, so Seven was all I knew until I saw my first Kes episode in.... 1999? Maybe early 2000? I wasn't much of a VOY fan until '98 or '99 because I was all about DS9 and TNG. That's probably the only thing I truly dislike about her. Yes! Jeri Ryan did a wonderful job with that episode. My favorite people were the girl and the Ferengi. (I was sort of obsessed with the Ferengi when I first saw that episode. Don't ask...) And I like her facial expressions too. Sorta like a Vulcan with a bit of Data.

She also did a really good job imitating the Doctor in Body and Soul. You really believed that the Doctor was the one talking. Atleast, I did.

She did do an excellent job! At Trek Expo last October something was said about that episode and Picardo mentioned that he never realized how annoying he seemed until he saw Jeri Ryan acting perfectly like him (or something along those lines).
